attended the launching
of Model Programme
for Dementia Housing
85.000 people live with dementia in Denmark. In just 25 years this figure is expected to be doubled. This will put an enormous pressure on public spending and the local authorities are therefore in acute need of securing more appropriate housing that can provide a safe and meaningful life for citizens with dementia, and to a greater extent support treatment and keep down medicine costs.
The Danish Association of Construction Clients (DACC) invited to a workshop on dementia housing, launching a new model programme on the subject. The model programme is to provide inspiration and a number of tools for the construction clients, who must solve the challenge of creating better psysical environments for people with dementia. According to Ældre Sagen it will be 40.000 suited dweillings.
