The existing company building for Army Home Guard district north-west Funen’s music corps, known as Svennekjærgård, was rebuilt.
The facades were restored, walls rendered with black mortar and a new car park built. The main hall, in which the old post and spar construction was exposed, contains the auditorium for the 60 man orchestra.
The acoustics were in particular focus, and sound insulation is integrated into the walls, ceilings and fittings. Combined natural and mechanical ventilation was installed for the large enclosed spaces. Energy consumption for heating was reduced by extra insulation, and for lighting by improving daylight entry. The high-ceilinged room is now lit by low and high level windows.
