The Agora building for Lundbeck, the drug company, as part of its head office complex in Valby. The building was opened in 2013 and now houses 250 staff members. Agora marks a pioneering concept within office interiors and design, with an unusually high degree of flexibility, spatial quality and sustainability – systematically integrated throughout the building in all aspects of its design and construction.
The building is a pure product of RH ARKITEKTER’s own DNA: the Nordic tradition for functional design to create the very best facilities for human habitation. The building features an open and visually simple look in which the senses of the user are stimulated by light, space, acoustics, design, texture and easy navigation.
The ground floor contains spacious public areas and supplementary facilities such as conference rooms. The other floors feature large, open areas intended to inspire a non-hierarchical environment. Support facilities such as quiet rooms and cafés are concentrated in the ends of the building, with meeting rooms located as a freestanding box in the high, transparent atrium. The building is designed to encourage collaboration between various scientific disciplines and communication, by dint of the open, multi-flexible structure. The layout of each floor can be radically changed by the use of such devices as mobile partition walls.
