The TEDA Hotel is part of the plans for the new Tianjin Economic Technological Development Area – TEDA, consisting of a complex of sports and conference facilities.
The 150 metre high accommodation towers house traditional hotel rooms and apartments. They are laid out in a structure with three wings and a central atrium. The wings are of varying heights and combine to form a sculptural, multifaceted composition, perceived differently from any angle.
The hotel stands on a specially-built plateau in an existing lagoon, and the image of a white sail against the open sea was an important reference. The base of the building is raised from the lagoon in the shape of a fast-frozen wave, and its sloping roof houses the hotel’s restaurant, shops, conference rooms, fitness room and other public facilities on two floors.
The intention behind the TEDA Hotel was to create a local landmark with a strong symbolic value.
