A house dating from the 70s in a suburb north of Copenhagen has been renovated and modernised. RH ARKITEKTER redesigned the house using a simple, light design – inspired by the developer’s fascination for Japanese style and the house’s location on a slope with an unobstructed view of Furesø lake.
Consequently, the house is open to the lake with new full-length glass facades and glass screen around a new terrace. The interior is white, simple and functional to provide a calming background, enabling the greenery around it to provide colour and variation. A number of small rooms have been combined into a large living area, in which the kitchen is part of the whole, only delimited by white glass sliding doors. A narrow window band is a feature of the living area, allowing the movement of the sun to pattern the room.
