The main idea for BRB2 is to create modern laboratory and office facilities in a light environment. By using glass walls and doors in the hallway, daylight is drawn into the centre of the building and visual contact across the building is made possible.
The wall towards the hallway is designed with as much glass as possible and with tall cabinets on one side. By placing laboratories with many installations to the South and offices to the North, all the installation heavy rooms will be in the same place. Thus, the installations can be concentrated and the routings will be shorter and more efficient.
The central core with stairs/lifts, toilets, repositories, shafts for electric lines, heating, water, and sanitation, and ventilation will remain where they are. Plans are made for an informal meeting place with café and kitchenette where the sections can meet up.
The laboratories comply with GMO demands with focus on cleanliness and that they are easy to clean in a simple and functional design.
